Hello from North Carolina!Hello, I just joined this forum yesterday because of my interest in steam engines, particularly the small ones. The reason that I didn't post yesterday is because I didn't know if I would win the auction I bid on or not
I probably overpaid for it but seeing as the condition of the paint and the little cox .049 that comes with it I don't think I got too bad of a deal

Welcome to the forum! That engine is a nice Mamod Minor 2. If you are happy with the price you paid, it isn't expensive! That was my first engine too.

Wow, what a fast response! I wanted an overtype or a vertical boiler (For how small and compact they are), and seeing that Mamods are usually cheaper and more common to work with and buy, I took a chance and bid on this one. The logo looks pretty good on it. I hope it runs, but If it doesn't, I am prepared to get it to run. Neat little display piece and I was thinking of maybe putting it on a remote control boat to see how it fares down the road if I got it good and running well.

Sorry I missed you on MSN James, went out to get a burger and had to wait on it. It's nice to have such a warm welcome here from so many members. I have watched videos and studied pictures of many engines from youtube and other sites, (Me identifying the ebay engine as a MM2 was from the picture from www.mamods.piczo.com ) and they are nice display pieces and can actually do some work.

Welcome to the forums Stampede Due.
Big welcome from OZ.
Warning. Once you start with a Mamod engine, you'll want more
Seems a decent price for the engine too.
Should clean up well.
If there is anything you need help with, or need to know, don't hesitate to ask. Plenty of people willing to help

Welcome SD! I was watching that auction, too...I held off since I already have
3 MM2's. You did fine since you got the gas engine with it. Is that the engine
you want to make a burner for? If you want to run it now, just throw some
STERNO in the tray, I use it often, buy it a the dollar store. Should get about
12 min runs on average. Glad you joined!
