hello from xlchainsaw and loungelizard5947xlchainsaw=glenn loungelizard5947 = elizabeth (lizzie)my wife lizzie owns our large collection of mamods and i get to play with them.(if i behave myself )we are both near 50yrs old and grew up with the birth of the roller and traction engine of the mamod range with many of our friends and relatives lucky enough to have one. both semi retired now we started collecting some time ago.as time passes we are being drawn deeper into the wonderful world of live steam models.we like to find and pass on models to serious enthusiasts in australia as parts and models are hard to come by locally.as most parts and models are easy to get in england we buy from the uk and other parts of the world and wait sometimes up to 6months for delivery.we are just becomeing known locally and are often being approached for parts ect.which we pass on .(australians arent known for their patience )we have over 100 models with most arriving in need of a part or two. thanks glenn

"And the engines came, two-by-two" were the first thoughts in my head
Nice collection.
What's the one down in front by the buffing wheel? Has the fancy stack and the black brick firebox. Stood out for me because it's the one thing that doesn't look Mamod
Though the red base certainly does...

keenly spotted! yes the base is mamod but the rest is??? its german . im going to remount the engine ,powering a meccano dynomo driving a street light or electric motor.its one our pride and joys. i beleive it to be a bing with a falk firebox??????when im finished ill share with all

XL...you are indeed a lucky man!!! With Graham-Jilly as another pro steam couple, this couple steaming thing is beginning to look a bit like an Ozzie exclusive!! Perhaps it's something in the water!
Good to have you both with us, and enjoyed seeing your sizeable collection.
cheers,
Roger

Cool. A little bit of a hybrid, then
One day I need to find myself a nice classic German engine. Problem is my eyes are inevitably drawn to the ones that I can in no way afford

this pic is no longer current. at the time of joining this was some of our display. i had a few restorables in the back shed and we had 30 models coming in from all over the world. this was a fact we didnt want to share at joining! since then we have sold quite a few! we no longer feel the need to have so many "just to get to know the model" this forum offers a wealth of knowledge almost to as far as saying.( in theory of course) "try it before you buy it"
|
Nick

30 coming in at one time!!!
Do you have an updated picture?
|
xlchainsaw
|
no we dont have a pic they are scattered across a 16ft by 4ft tressle table and are being setup in scenes. we hope in months to come (with the help of other members) to shoot a dvd. try as we can weve had no luck with uploading small vids on photo bucket or you tube even after paying their fees. we have dialup but soon will upgrade to broadband.anyway we would like to complete some projects before showing them. when we have a dvd we will be sending a copy to key forum members who can copy it and pass it on on our behalf.a 10min vid wouldnt do justice to our project.
