Hello, I'm new here.Hello,
My name is Daniel Brooks, but all of my friends call me Trog (it's a long story!).
I found this forum partly due to recommendation. I then searched Google and found Mooseman's superb website, leading me to this Forum.
One has a little green SEL steam engine, which runs very well indeed.I'm hoping that you can answer some of my questions, if you would be so kind.
This Forum is very large, and seems a little daunting, but I'm hoping I'll fit in fine.
Thankyou very much
Dan (Trog)

Gosh, that was quick, Nick.
Thankyou very much
I've been previously informed that my late father's engine is an SEL (Signalling Equipment Limited, I believe) 1520 Minor.
I don't know an awful lot about these wonderful machines, and even struggle to name some of the parts on the engine If one has to ask a question, it might be worded fairly basically
Thankyou very much!

You will get many responses shortly I bet.
I know nothing about SEL, I only have a grinder accessory, but many other members have these engines.

You came to the right place, ask your questions and wait for answers, I bet you get a lot of information. It is like a big family here and the more the merrier.

The great part of it being international is you can get responses 24 hours a day.
I have only had it happen one time that I know of, where I was the only member signed on. It only lasted about 2 minutes.

A big warm welcome, Dan, from St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. This forum is a goldmine of information. When I first joined a little over a month ago I didn't know a Mamod from a Mocha!
Now I have just completed my first steam boat.

Hi Trog, welcome from Gloucestershire.
SEL engines are great fun, and dont be embarrassed to ask the most basic seeming of questions. Even the most expert (of which I am not one ) are tripped up sometimes
Ive not seen anyone being bitten for asking basics.
Besides most topics vere after about a page anyway- its all good fun

I too have an SEL 1520, also its bigger brothers - they made 4 different engines in all as well as parts for other makers such as the plant for the Mamod ME3 (marine engine).
