Hello thereHi everyone, I'm Douglas from central Scotland.
I'm currently mostly interested in steam powered Meccano models and have three MEC1s currently built into models; a steam car (see avatar), a model workshop with Mamod and Wilesco tools and a 1929 Foden steam wagon. I've got another that needs restoring before it can be used so I'm very interested in the experiences of other forum members.
I got into steam when my father bought me a Mamod TE1A when I was a boy and over the years I've acquired a Steam Wagon, Roadster SA1 and the Fire Engine.
I've also got a an SE3 which I bought so as to avoid running my elderly pre-war German 2 cylinder horizontal engine. I am fairly sure it is a Doll but I don't know the model number or date. My father had it as boy in the 1940s and it certainly wasn't new then! There will be more on this when I figure out how to upload pictures.
Well, that's about it for just now. I look forward to exchanging ideas with you all in the future.
Douglas.

Welcome from Gloucestershire. The photos are easy to do actually- cant wait to see the twin German engine- may well be a Doll, but quite a few others did twins then.
Nice to see the passing down of engines from your dad- sames happened for me- makes them extra special in my view.

Many thanks everyone for the warm welcome.
I've signed up with ImageShack so here's a first test picture. It's a rather fine model of a beam engine. Not one of mine I'm afraid, but made by one my fellow members of the Meccano Society of Scotland. You can find us at http://www.meccanoscotland.org.uk/

You shoudn't have to worry about steaming your Doll steam engine, it should be a powerful engine that could drive a large workshop.
