Help finding the right screwI have this screw here from my stuart.
I'm sorry i always ask here for help, but stuart is completely new to me, also i don't have a clue about those UK screws
This is one of those who hold the cylinder plates.
I need to have 3 more of them.
Can anybody tell me which one i need?
Or does anybody have some in spare? (will pay for them of course!)
The measures are...
Lenght of the threaded part: 7mm
Diameter: 2,45 or 2,5mm
The hex head is 4,6mm

What's the thread pitch?

The simplest way is to measure the length of the threaded portion (you've already done that) and then count the threads by running a fingernail down it.
Going by the diameter alone (assuming it's not a metric thread) it could be 7BA, which would be 2.5mm diameter and 0.48mm pitch.

You could be right!
There are 12 threads i counted...

M2.5 is 0.45mm pitch, which is also close, but 7BA is more likely for a Stuart.

So it is a TBA screw i need.
All other screws are also not metric as none of my spanners will fit
So i guess this one is also not metric.
Anybody got 3 screws for me??

The only 7BA screws I have are 5mm long. Would those be long enough? They are slotted cheese head not hexagonal.

Sorry but only way I know for sure is to measure the diameter preferably with a micrometer but a vernier will do and go to a good hardware store and buy a thread pitch gauge and measure it.
If it is BA it will fall between sizes but that will be good enough to know for sure.
This is a thread pitch gauge, they are not expensive and very useful for working out thread sizes on missing parts of engines.

I have just checked my own Stuart 10V and the cylinder head studs are 7ba. These are quite widely available, I quite often use Macc Models although his delivery costs seem to have increased recently, but there are other companies. Just buy over-length and cut to the size you want.
Here's a link if you would like to try them

You may be able to find a company closer to you.
Just found this as well on ebay, same company but cheaper shipping, and world wide click here
Hope it helps

I have bought a few items from macmodels and find them quite reasonable as its cheaper for me to buy from them and have them shiped here than buying them here in Aus
