Hi everyone

Hi, I'm david, I'm 15 from Bournemouth. Some people from around here know me well (les). I have models and a 4'' Burrell traction engine.

I started collecting models when I was about 4, buying a one off tractor. I now have about 25 engines, mainly mamods and wilescos, with a couple of other engines, including a very nice bowman. I have some modified engines, mainly done by me and my dad.
Steve_S

Welcome to the forum David. You've come to the right place! Could you post some pictures of your engines?
IndianaRog

Hi David and welcome aboard.  4" scale Burrell traction engine...ooooh, I want to see pics of that!

MooseMan

Hi, welcome!!

Naturally I'm curious about your Bowman.....
dervard94

It was kritikas, my dad did a complex swapping process involving an early TE1, a car, a roller and that, done at Tilford 2008 (i think!)
Sandman

A big Scottish Welcome.

(Err, I'd like to see a pic of your Bowman as well.)

You've come to the right place.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Sandman

OOOh, a lovely M140.

Do you steam It???
dervard94

I steamed it once at Tilford last year, that was the last time it will be steamed.
ozsteamdemon

Hi David , another warm welcome from the land down under .
Steve_S

Nice engine! They seem to be one of the less common Bowmans, though I think several of us have one. Yours is a beauty!
MooseMan

Wow, that's a peachy 140! Much better than mine!
dervard94

does look very nice
dampfmaschinenjoe 1967

Hi

Atticman

Welcome to the forum,

I remember that M140, and how it was a wrench for Kritika to let it go. Glad its gone to an appreciative owner. He could only have swapped it for a TE
Great selection of mobiles as well
Piston42

Hi and welcome from France , and you have a very nice collection.
Les

Hello David and welcome to the forum , you have a wonderful selection of engines and also being a witness to the M140 steamup last year I can confirm that it is a beauty and it's a shame you are not going to steam it again.
Jay_Minor

Hi David and welcome from Southampton, not too far from you
kevininasia

Welcome from Singapore. Oh, that Burrell is a beauty. Wow.

It was. On Saturday at Tilford, in the first barn through the gate
made-in-england

Aye aye, saw you running your loco too, im sure yours didnt fail as catastophicly as mine did
dervard94

after a while it was OK, brought it home and inspected the safety valve to find the o-ring was rotten, causing the safetys to blow well under pressure.

Did you retrieve it??
made-in-england

Nah I done it at home wen I made the SL2 vid, left it on the newspaper after draining boiler and just scooped it all in the bin only realised when Chris pointed it out to me as I took the loco out of its box at tilford

David:- Maybey you could show us some pics of your conversions as the SA1 was brilliant!
dervard94

Dad's come in handy for that.
made-in-england

Only person who was ever interested in buying them was my late grandad! that said when I need somthing fixing dad uncle and other grandad come in handy!
made-in-england

Do you and your dad do ne other exhibitions apart from Tilford?
dervard94

I fix some of them myself, Dad mainly builds them, we currently have a matt black long roller half finished and a navy blue tractor and furniture wagon half finished, hopefully will be with the engines at the next outing with them (maybe the school?)

With the models, no. We do many other outings with the burrell. I sometimes take one to certain rallys, but quite rarely.

Big David
Goodness, only joined 24 hours ago & 4 welcome pages already
But I can see why - what a collection!
At least we can't be accused of giving you the steam bug - you've got it already & obviously been 'suffering' for quite a while
Enjoy your stay in the steam 'sanatorium'
dervard94

My granddad got me into it, Ken Froud. He had fire engines and used to travel around the shows. My dad also had a large collection of models.
kusuchi

A warm welcome, David, from Richard and Andrew in the US Virgin Islands.

I was at Tilford this year and remember your table.  Probably have some pictures.  If so I'll post them on this thread.
dampfmaschinenjoe 1967

Hi, David,
The engines in between the big Burrell TE and the small Mamod engine are very nice too: All in all it is a really stunning collection !
WELL DONE !

cheers Joe
