Hi from Germany

Hello,
Time to introduce myself.
First I want to thank you. I felt at home here from the first moment I entered the forum.

I was born in 1961 in Southwest Germany (Palatinate) and there I live till this day. I did a lot of jobs during my life. At the moment I serf as chief security officer in a coorporation that produces agricultural machinery. Formerly it had been Heinrich LANZ AG (maybe you know the Lanz Bulldog traction engine).

Steam Engines are a very recent hobby of mine. I discovered it in summer 2008 while forced to stay at home for 8 weeks due to  a medical problem. I was bored to death by inactivity. So I remembered a time long ago when I was a boy of about 10 or so and a friend (not a close friend) had a Steam Engine. I liked it very much and wanted to have such a wonderful thing too. My parents denied that (not without reason) and in the end I forgot the matter.

Now in summer of 2008 there was nothing to be said against buying a Steam Engine. So I ordered and got one. The rest is in your imagination. Steam Engines are breeding very fast, arenīt they?

Klaus, good to learn a bit about you and your background.  Many of us were touched by a steam engine in our youth and now as adults can pursue what might have once just been a dream.  My first engine spanned almost 40 years before I rekindled the interest and added a "few" more specimens.

It had been Lanz until the mid 1950s. Some of the buildings had known old Heinrich Lanz personally I presume

Now (that is no secret) it is John Deere.

There is also a small museum with mostly Lanz Bulldogs from the beginning (1923?) to the end (1956) and one single horsedrawn steam locomobil.

If you like I can send you the E-Mail adress of the archivist.
