Hi from IrelandThought I'd better introduce myself, been lurking for a while.
Main interest is Land Rovers (I'm spread over several forums ) but always been interested in railways and the like.
Owned a TE1A many years ago and had one of the train sets when they first came in, subsequently swapped for Landie spares which I now regret!
In a position to build a garden railway here but to get the interest going bought a SL1 off ebay so will be posting on loco section shortly. Same night, fuelled by red wine, I also bought a an Emco Compact 5 lathe! Finding the technical section useful.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Buying a lathe is nearly as bad for your pocket as collecting toy steam.
There is always another accessory you want for the lathe.
There are quiet a few of us here that have rebuilt Mamod locos as well as a few more doing it now.
Also if you want something a bit different for your Mamod we have a few people here that sell enhancements for your Mamod.
Have fun.

G'day
I have a hard enough time keeping up with one forum, myself
I'm starting to wonder how I ever managed to get on without a lathe before. It's like going from a bicycle to a half tonne truck

Thanks for the welcome guys, the model steam fraternity is certainly spread far and wide!
Must do a bit of research on what to see in NZ, off to visit sister in Auckland in April.

Another big warm welcome from OZ. Oh dear, steam toys and lathes, better get to the bank to either lock up what's left or ask for a big loan - your going to need it,
You'll also find our steam library section very helpful for making, repairing and planning.
Cheers
Chris

Already trawled the library, a lot of very useful information in there.
Think I need to fit a breathalyser to my laptop to stop red wine fuelled Saturday night ebay purchases!
