Hi There!

Been lurking for a while, figured I'd say Hi.
By way of an intro, my present set, ongoing repairs too!

Power station (just)

Or seen from another angle:

All the Mamods and the Jensen are runners as is the D6.

The D16 and D22 are restoration projects ongoing.

I have converted the Jensen and Mamod SP2 to run on Sterno.

Cheers!
Freeminer.

Hello Freeminer and welcome to the forum.

That is a nice looking collection you have which will keep the Jensen, Wilesco and Mamod boys happy.

Is the boat a runner or is it a static model?
Freeminer

It will be a runner as soon as the weather gets warmer and then we'll have a pop pop regatta on the local wood seasoning pond!

Its a home painted "Titanic" from a bare metal base.

One of several Pop Pop s which I have collected - great steam fun on the cheap!
James

Wooo me old D16!!

That's a great collection! Well done!

Hi Freeminer, glad to have a fellow sterno user on board.

Nice collection Freeminer, and welcome to the forums

Thanks to all for the welcome.
In answer to your comments (in no particular order).

Yep - two engineer shop made Sterno burners and access to catering gallon cans of sterno mean easy heat for the Mamod and Jensen and without the tar gas effect ofthe solid fuel tabs!

I like the variety of having different engines and tools to run at different times, my 10 yr old loves "making power" with the dynamo/Mamod combo.

Got a Mamod Flypress to swap for a grinder or polisher if anyone has one? Ferris wheel to follow for his 10th birthday and the start of a new set up board. The D22 will be the main power source for the "Fairground" setup.

I will be getting more tools for the D16 as it gets toward ready.

I was hoping to plate the base, but it is a soldered model and cannot be guaranteed tight rejoining when reassembling.

Most spares and fixings from Forest Classics.

Any one else got a few Pop Pop boats stashed away somewhere?

Cheers,
            Freeminer.

A warm welcome from the US Virgin Islands

Nice collection.  I also have a young steam fanatic in the house.

But no electrical power plant. (unless you count the Jensen 25)
Andrew

Another warm welcome from Andrew (age eight) in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Would like to see video of your Pop Pop Boats.  We built the Elliot Bay Steam Launch but have never seen Pop Pop Boats.
James

I've got a few pop pops for sale if you're interested

Never seen one, so wouldn't know.  Any video threads?  We've seen Pics? How do they run?
johnreid

here is Rangers

here is mine, sorry no video
steamgranny

I have a few pop-pops & possibly greatest amount of fun at smallest possible cost
I run mine on Virgin    olive oil & found the little candles useless. Can use a small piece of Esbit but tends to burn paint.
A pic of the collection & a video of one of my smallest but fastest ones (excuse finger at the beginning!)

If you are asking about mine, it goes more slowly than the little ones but very well, making a much deeper sound (bigger engine). I must take another video of it, as every time I tried last year the wind was blowing & it kept running aground
I bought mine in kit form & decorated it myself, although it now needs redoing.
Me

Nice collection you got there..
WELCOME to the forum

Me.

Thanks SG, yes I wondered about the Titanic pop pop.

A video would be great
Freeminer

Thanks All for the further comments

Been away for a couple of days, staying at Salford Quays.

Every time I go there , I get the urge to see if the Titanic would manage to make it a full length of one of the quays there

The Titanic in my pics hasn't had its first voyage yet, I will try to post video when the weather warms up; then there is a big shallow wood seasoning pond - perfect for pop pops, we intend to get a fleet sailing all at once !
