Michael

Hi to all members,

I have joined this form recently 14/8/09 and have placed a couple of postings and received many welcomes to the form and a great deal of very helpful feedback.

I’m still browsing the form and becoming more familiar with the layout and have now found the “Meet the Members” section and realized I have not followed correct protocol and properly introduced myself so I will correct that now. I’m presently living out in Bangkok and home is south Ireland and I found my first and currently only steam engine when I was around 11 years of age in an antique shop in St. Albans Herts. I was totally fascinated by is so my mother bought it for my birthday. This was about 32 years ago as I am now 43.

The engine was operative when I first got it but sprung several leaks and came apart at the joints. This largely due to the fact that it had previously been patched up at the joints with putty before coming into my possession. It was stored for many years after I left home and has been presumed missing for the past 20 years after a house move but has since been found packed in the attic and is again with me.

Recent research on the net suggests it is a SE3 twin piston that is in need of a lot of love and restoration. This module is assembled with nut and bolt and has a throttle at the tank to the outlet pipe.
I now have an 11 year old son of my own and would like to spend time restoring this engine with him and perhaps then moving onto other similar projects.

Cheers Mick & Dennis

As a rule, the SE3 is one that isnt too difficult to fix up, enjoy your time here, you are amongst friends with a common interest.
