I posted this engine on my STWWW table, but it was a bit late for discussion.
I was wondering if anyone has seen a similar engine or if it's one-of-a-kind. The part that makes me lean towards a kit is the cast brass engine frame.
It was purchased earlier this year off ebay UK:
A Mamod 3 wick burner is perfect for it. The end wick sits directly under the chimney (which goes through the boiler) so plenty of heat gets through:
And the middle wick is right under the steam line:
The engine frame is cast brass:
Chunky brass flywheel:
Cylinder:
Grooved piston:
Whistle & SV:
The soldering is very good except for one spot:
Pulley:
Firebox opening:
Baseplate:
And the red paint suffered minor scorching:

its either a very well made "simple engine" or its a kit. My guess is kit.
It certainly is the nuts whatever it is!

I've seen one of those before. It was at STIA in February this year. I spoke to the owner but he didn't know who the manufacturer was. We agreed that we both liked it and we both thought it was probably from one of the many short lived small companies that sprang up after the war. Very shortly afterwards I saw another one on eBay... probably this one... so it seems to have been commercially produced. It could have been a kit. It certainly runs well!

Thanks for the info Steve! I'll have to look through the DVD and see if I can spot it.
