A challenge for all wilesco's based around the d10 cylinder assembly. How slow can you make it work? heres my best effort with my te
logoman
that's very slow.
Rob
im sure either my te or roller could get close, but theyre in bits and will be for a long time.
i have a well run in d16 which would maybee run a tad slower.
ill try and get some vid...
newsteamer123
got mine goin exactly that speed and it is a d10 stationary
ozsteamdemon
To answer that question i`m thinking it would be best to count the revolutions .
newsteamer123
got mine to go on revolution per second but it would only go 20 seconds before pressure went out
Klaus Lutz
Hi
Have a look at my D24. She is going realy slow beginning at minute 1:30.

That's pretty slow Klaus... not quite as slow as regracing's engine though.
I really like seeing steam engines run slooooowly.

I can not see photobucket videos. I do not know why. So I can not see his engine running and though my posting was a leap in the dark.
At least I know now that there are Wilescos that are able to steam even more slowly.
Klaus
p.s. To be able to read is advantageous. I should have read that the contest is about small cylinder Wilescos
regracing
Thats ok klaus, any videos are welcome. I will upload it to youtube for you if i can
Ross
Ok heres my attempt not sure if it beats yours but I think it comes close!!!
regracing
Thats impressive ross, its at least as slow as mine

Old videos I did a few years back
Speed isn't even because the decking isn't either.
How about 2 D10 cylinders?
Kept blowing off the whistle to keep the pressure from building too much.

Now how about making your Wilesco turbine go super slowly?...
Ross

That would be easy....... I think
Compound
They are slow videos!
regracing
I think that d22 is very slow, I own the same set up of 2 d10 pistons in my boat and it when new could run very slowly. Wish i had a proper d22 though

Oddly enough I've never tried that
I'll bet the fish tank pump would work.
But turbines are right boring if there isn't a big cloud of steam in your face and a scream like a miniature siren in your ears
The T-90 is nice, The Jensen 95G is Elegant, The Empire B-35 is a gutless wonder (but it sure make for an interesting experience).

Just woundering what a 3 cylinder machine would run like??

Reviving this thread with 3 videos of the 1930's Jensen 25 That arrived this week straight from the Temple Of Steam.
This engine has got to be the smoothest and slowest runner I have. Third video is the slowest, but it does stop a few times.
Bugsy
That was slow, Mark! Hard to beat.
But what was the purpose of the thin thread on the driving pulley?
Wouldn't it be better off without that (small) load?

I was running a generator on it, so I went with a dental floss drive band. It's slack in these vids, for the purpose of the demonstration
I wonder if it would have kept going in #3 if I had cut it..
I still have to mix a proper video of it going like a scalded cat.
Ross
Bringing up an old thread
I just did this with my wilesco!
(sorry the camera was playing up that day hence it is a bit blury)
Mark-One
Now that's slow! Those small piston valve Wilescos are great performers.
I missed the opportunity to film a REALLY slow dual. A Jensen 55 running off my gutless fishy pump as it cools down. Now the water is gone from it, the oil has thickened, and it won't turn over on that whiff of air.
