I screwed Molly and Isabelle to their new bases!

I like my machines to be fastened to nice, heavy wooden bases - gives them more weight and sturdiness against vibrations (even the big D24 in the background). The bases were dyed walnut-colour and then painted with that awful acrylic-based transparent stuff. It leaves a nice shine, is non-toxic and doesn't smell, but the surface does not become smooth, not even after sanding between coats, and I applied 4!
I left enough room on Petite Isabelle's plate (Jensen #85) for a second machine. Perhaps a Mamod Minor? Whaddaya buoys and gulls fink?
Wet Molly (SE3) looks all fine and somber with her dark base, I think. I also sealed her stack with silicone to keep her from dribbling - hence her name . Mamodman will supply me with a nice decal (thanks, mate!), and the lady will be as good as new (I'll just ignore her Zinkpest ...)

They look great Tom!

Thats very nice Tom!

I think an SP2 would look great next to that Jensen as they are similar in appearance!

First the Krauss Sailors ride Virgins then Toxx screwed Molly and Isabelle! What is this world coming too

That looks like a great way to keep them from dancing all over the table.

Tom, you are good to your engines, they look great and should stay in their place from now on!

Nice platforms...

watch that oil on the Wilesco- she looks like she is making her own  "wall artwork"!!
Nick

They look great.

It would be neat to have two engines running at the same time on the same base.

You can't be a model steam enthusiast without having some stray oilstains on the walls and greasy fingerprints around all the lightswitches in the house!

I'm sure all of us would be able to find a friend for it.

... she's a real good runner! I also cured part of Wet Molly's dribbling: I put a little silicone on the inside of the stack's foundation - problem gone. The other 'wetness' is due do the oscillating cylinders and is normal. Messy she is!
