I've doubled my collection (to six !)I've been busy adding engines to my collection, all mamods, one old, one young and one brand new: -
A little MM1 - A slow gentle little thing
A SP1 - Goes like the clappers !
And a new SP6 - I really love this engine (despite all the bad press !)
I'll post a video of the SP6 asap

Very nice additions but I am surprised that you describe your MM1 as slow and gentle as all three of mine run like the clappers.

Les I think it must be showing it's age I kinda like it though, it just ticks over nicely. I can't see any problems with it, so i'll just keep giving it some TLC to see if it gets better with running.

Excellent engines there, and in great nick as well.
Worthy additions to any collection.

Dip the piston of that MM1 in Steam Oil just before its next run, it will go for the speed record. I am curious to see the SP6 in action, I must have missed the bad press.

That SP6 is a real cracker- and I think it looks better for shaping the brass a bit- the early ones were square.
I had the pleasure of watching Lewis firing one for much of a show and they are really impressive.
When the MM1 gets going they do really go like the clappers

It may be that the steam pipe is partially blocked restricting the steam flow.

Regarding the bad press on the SP6 i think it was originally supplied with plastic rods so it got a slating, mine are definety metal. However it's my first engine with the double action cylinders and they are just great to watch. I'm warey to put it on full steam cos it goes so fast..... really addictive stuff !
Thanks for the tips on the MM1, I think that you are right in that it just needs to "clean its pipes out" and it will run just sweet.
