If you had to choose only one ...Let's pretend that you have to get rid of all your steam toys, engines ... boats ... locos ... accessories ... the lot ... everything apart from just one item, which one would you keep and why?
Me ... I'd keep Jenny Wren because it is so nearly perfect (and my wife would keep the Seahawk as it belonged to her late father).
That doesn't mean I don't like the others ... I do ... but if it has to be just one then that will be it for me.
Your turn.

That is a tough one!! I only have 3 working engines right now, and I like each one in its own right....
the 76 was my first... BUT....
I think it would be my 1961 Wilesco D12,
despite its being so plain, I really love the way it runs, and the sound it makes.....

If I could only keep one I own at the moment it would have to be my Lady Anne loco as I built it and its my most expensive engine and it has many hours of work from me invested in it.

I'd kill the person who was trying to forcibly remove my engines.
I'd then steal theirs!

I would have to say my D.E.O. as it is the only one that I have ever seen!!

probably my wilesco showman because it was my firstever engine.

Mine would probably be one of these two:

MTA

My Mersey 54R, as it has a little bit of added history:

why not nail all your engines to 1 big board and call it 1 engine.

Now there's an idea
But if that wasn't allowed ... I too love my little Jenny Wren but, if push came to shove, it would have to be the M101. It's a real solid brute of an engine that goes as well as it looks.

And they run on and on and on.............

So hard to pick one.... but I'd go with either my Mamod roadster or Wilesco D21
|
MooseMan

My Wilesco D45.....my long-lost dad gave me that on my 10th birthday, as he'd promised to do ever since I was 5 or so......as an engine it's nothing special, but the sentimental value outweighs any notion of value or rarity.

This is turning into a really interesting topic because there is such a wide spread of makes that are listed. I did think that when I first posted the thread there would one or two makes that would dominate but this is clearly not the case. What a fantastic range of engines we all have.

To be honest, two were more or less gifts, no money in the world can buy those. I also have a couple that I hold to be special and if I had to part with them I would not be a very happy camper. Friends criticize me for having any, but the fun and enjoyment I get from them in a normally depressing world gives them a value that can not always be measured with monetary value.

seriously, if I were to keep an engine, it would be my Midge
not toy steam, but steam none the less.
|
Stitch

For me it would be my David Auld verticle because its solid construction means it will last forever. Also, I will always remember it because I paid far too much for it and it won me engine of the month
|
igy569

WOW!!
I have never even heard of half of the engines mentioned here. I am trying to win an old rather beat up Mamod on ebay right now. Cause 20-30 bux is all I can afford, and shipping is a killer right now.

I'd keep this - boiler was a gift from my uncle.

Hard question. As much as I like the earlier engines I own, and the OZ one, I would have to keep my SE2a.
It was my first engine, and a great runner
|
Mister Occlusion

Probably my Jensen 20
Though I'd be reluctant to part with any of my modified Jensens

My first MM1, from my 9th birthday - no surprise there then

If it had to be steam it would be my Steamco because it's such a beautiful engine. If it had to be any engine it would be my bohm stirling engine because it's my 4-year old's favourite. He always wants me to run it, and he calls it the beehive engine
