IndianaRog and his Temple of Steam

I guess this is the best place to put one's website address.

Mine is a relatively new venture started in earnest in June 2006...but have enjoyed using it as a window for the world into a collection dominated by Jensen, Empire, Karsten Gintschel turbines, a few Bowmans and a bunch of one off pieces from various makers.

Take a look see: www.indianarog.com

Brilliant web site Rog.

You can lose yourself for hours in that website - you have a way with words Rog!
IndianaRog

LOL...almost 30 years working in corporate America and I learned to bull***t with the best of them.

Seriously, I try to word my website just like I talk or email (verbal diarrhea at times I know).

For any of you who want to start a website yourselves, the tools are easy these days...if you can type, pull a sentence together and take a few digital pictures, a website is really a pretty easy effort and like a family photo album, it's enjoyable to peruse it yourself.

Mooseman put me onto Freewebs.com as an easy to navigate website host and I have been very happy with them.

cheers,
Rog

I was on your website looking at your Jensen 51 Replica and see it has a cummulative hour meter. I'm just curious as to how many hours does it have?
IndianaRog

Nick, my Jensen 51 Replica now has 70 hours on the meter.  I don't run it for more than 30-45 min. at a setting and probably run it every 2-3 weeks.

It still fascinates me to sit in the dark (best time to run it)...and switch the various lights and motor on in varying sequences and watch the now illuminated control panel guages do their thing.  I need to update my website photos, as I now have 4 lights running on it with each one switched...originally I set it up with 2 lights but found the stepper generator produces plenty of DC power, so why not brighten things up a bit adding 2 DC lamps in addition to the 2 AC lamps and DC motor I started with.

cheers,
Rog
Nick

I wonder how good pictures would turn out in the dark. It would be very interesting to see.
Andy

Wow Rog, that paints a pretty picture......any chance you could capture that on a long exposure shot?

I've really got to get myself over to the Temple one of these days......
johnreid

I am so lucky, I got to visit the Temple. There was only one problem, the day was way too short.

I don't know how to do a long exposure with a digital camera...will have to give the manual a look see.  I have a Sony Mavica 3+ megapixels if anyone knows how to set it for long exposure.

Look for a night shot setting Rog.
