IP Lubricator assemblyI thought seeing as I'm going to get a regulator for 'Victor', I might as well get a lubricator as well. So I would like to know how they fit in. Does the 'Tee piece' from the lubricator slot into the reverser valve and then the steam pipe from the new regulator slot into the back of it? If so it doesn't sound as difficult as first thought! If anyone has some scans of instructions or pictures of it all assembled, I'd be most grateful if you could post them up here

That's pretty much how it is MTA. You have to solder the steam pipe into the lubricator. Then the lubricator slots into the block at the front.
I'm looking for pictures but PB is running slow ATM!

Is this the lubricator on the smokebox or in the cab like Tonys and mine??

Isn't that the roundhouse SJ?

Anyone know if pps do the lubricators as they don't list them on their site.
Also are pps upgraded pistons the same as ip upgraded pistons?

Yes, but PPS's gauge one cylinders are the same as the 0 gauge but with 2 more gaskets. While I.P do a proper sort of larger port faces.
Not sure whether PPS sell lubricators

MTA if you dont mind soldering a coller onto some copper pipe get yourself a Roundhouse lubricator to fit instead of the IP one.
It looks better and works better especially if you are going to get a regulator.
Also I have gotten two IP lubricators and both of them were bent up incorrectly so I had to straighten and rebend them to fit them which caused kinks in the pipe.

The t on mine fitted perfectly.......... In the bin.
The lubricator drum bit went to James.
And the roundhouse 1 i fitted works much better.
Go with the flow MTA and fit the roundhoude type 1. Those who have fitted them im sure will agree they are a much better idea.

How much is the Roundhouse Lubricator and how would you fit it? Is it in the same manner albeit from the regulator steam pipe?

Can you give a precise list of what to buy to fit a roundhouse one. I am a bit thick with that sort of thing.
Unions is it?
What gets soldered to what and how?
Best get my brain in gear, got a meeting with my bosses bosses boss tomorrow!

Think mine was £11.75 from roundhouse it comes with all the connections you need to fit it to the ip/pps regulator. Im sure if you ring roundhouse they will help you. They are a fantastic company, never known anyone as helpfull or interested in their job before.

Have a look at their web site but be warned it can prove expensive

its realy simple. 1 end just screws onto the ip/pps type regulator and the union that roundhouse supply with the lubricator just needs fitting in to the steam pipe that comes with the regulator.
If you need anymore help just ask i will be glad to help as much as i can.

And there are no other parts to buy (well except a regulator and some solder)?

If you are going to use an IP regulator aswell, just buy the regulator anf the roundhouse lubricator and you will have everything you need.
The just need to cut the pipe from the pipe that comes with the IP regulator a bit shorter and solder the union that is supplied with the IP regulator to it and thats it.
If you are not installing an IP regulator you need extra pipes and union nuts. If you are not installing the regulator let me kow and I will put up photos of the other bits you need.

EDIT
here are some pictures to show how I routed the pipes to connect the IP regulator and Roundhouse Lube

It amazes me at how easy it all seems, that was mainly what was holding me back. I thought it was all really difficult to plumb these upgrades in, now though Victor will run even better than before

I'm going to place bulk orders with PPS and IP, as PPS charge cheaper prices than IP for some items.

I'd just order all from PPS out of the principle that you'll receive it some time this year

As others have said, it is easier to fit the Roundhouse Lubricator to the IP Regulator than the PPS regulator. Plus there isn't a picture of the PPS regulator on their site...

Just a thought, it may be an idea to route some of the regulator to forward/reverse control pipe, in such a way as to expose it to the burner flame, to effectivley superheat it (i.e SE3 stylie).
Owww I like the idea of the roundhouse lubricator, so I too will be 'disposing' of my IP lubricator, in favour of the regulator/roundhouse lubricator config.
Darren.

Yes I have fitted one to mine aswell and they work a treat, only downside is you use more oil.

I'm assuming you mean the regulator lever and it certainly looks like it so it would not be too hard to fit a RC lever to that and make it RC controlled

MTA the original pipe supplied with the regulator hat to be cut so that the threades bush could be soldered on and I also had to cut 1/4 of an inch off the front end of the pipe where it fitted into the f/r regulator at the front of the engine.
hope that makes sense 4.40am here not quite awake yet

I have a two year old that I have to change his nappy at midnight or he wont make it through the night so no point going to be earlier than that and I start work in the city at 7:30am so I'm up at 6:30am every day.
Weekends are different I'm usually up until 1 or 2am and sleep in as long as I'm aloud.
But I every now and then do night work so whilst waiting for things to happen log on at work so it looks like I'm always on.
