Is this a Renown?Tmuir might be able to help here
Is this a Renown? It's a friend of a friends engine.
Looks like there is a passionate collector, locally, in my town
Thanks for any help

I forgot to add. I was told it was a Renown, or "Aussie engine" but just wanted confirmation

Wallace, I believe Steamyman (fellow Aussie) has one of those and it is a Renown...he also has a little video of it running that I've seen. Also bears a resemblance to the Skorpion, but those tilted "ears" on the top link it to a Renown I'm pretty sure. Outside of this forum I had never seen one before...so learning too.

Thanks Rog
I knew I had seen one somewhere.
I hadn't browsed the forums for pics and vids since getting the pics due to lack of time.
We might have a new member soon

Definately a Renown and in 1950 it sold for 1 pound /14/11 wjat ever that means I dont understand 'old money'
The boiler was made from war surplus 57mm brass shell cases.
Renown made toys from 1945 to the late 1950s they also made a steam roller, stationary with windmill, a loco as well as a child tools set in the early days.

I see that one has lost the overflow plug and it is the type that has a flat piston rod, some like mine had a round rod and a round pipe on the end to fit around the crank

Just noticed it looks like the steam pipe has been araldited onto the faceplate.

You could well be right!

It could be epoxy, but I haven't seen the engine in person.
If it is, easily enough fixed.

A blob of solder will sort it . . . .
