Jensen #20GI have been after one of these for a while now. Well earlier this week I got my hands on this.
It is now the oldest model currently in the Jensen line up, and uses the original 3/4" bore X 3/4" stroke cylinder arrangement, coupled to a 4" diameter flywheel.
Notice the oiler holes for the crankshaft journals, a nice idea on an engine that is still essentially a toy
Thought this was a nice finishing touch, as Mr. Jensen Jr still makes these engines up, he put his signature on the base of this one.
Here's a pic next to my MM2, to give a gauge to the size of the engine
Here's some video's of the engine both free running, and under load.

That is a BEAUTIFUL engine
There is not much I'd not do for that mate!
A superb and stunning piece of kit.
I'm very jealous
Love it- keep it coming!

James, do you think it is a slower runner than your D22?

Griffin,
What can I say but WOW...gorgeous looking just standing there, and yet under steam it easily powers the generator or cranks right down to a snail's pace. I think with a bit more running in, that might knock James D22 off the "slow go" pedestal!!
Let's see...with three of Jensen's finest cast iron/wood based engines now in hand, you are closing in on Mooseman for what could be the biggest collection of Jensens of that type in the UK.
Who would have thought 6 months ago that you would have collected such things? If you have gotten those beasts by the missus unnoticed, please tell me how!!!
cheers,
Rog

Sadly the stealthy approach at getting this past the Missus unnoticed failed so there is no useful tips to tell there.
As for the Jensen bug getting hold of me, I initially blamed it on MooseMan, but apparently you gave it to him, so ultimately you are the cause Rog well that is what I am now telling the Missus

That is a very nice engine Griffin.
Lot of quality, and that signature is a great bonus
Excellent runner too

That really looks great, I have to decide between the 20G and the 55G for my collection. I have to get something now I've got the Jensen 100 tool workshop on the way as I'm sure the 45 won't run all the tools at the same time. I'm waiting to sell my car and I'm split between the two, the 20 has the heritage & I rather like the 55 because I really like my SE3's, sigh.
Decisions, decisions,
Cheers

Chris, I had the very same dilema, which ever you choose, you wil not be disapointed.
The #20 as got the edge power wise, but at a slower speed. That big flywheel store's a lot of energy up.
The #55 is still a powerful engine, but has the added bonus of being a lot more "busy" with double the linkages, it's a nice engine to watch in motion. Oh, and the #55 is a self starter once run in.
Apart from the engine bit, they are identical in every other way.
Hope that has helped you come to a decision

Thanks Griff for your advice, I haven't got a larger single cylinder engine and I do have 6 SE3's so mabe the pendulum is swinging back towards the 20G, especially if I can get it signed.
Cheers
Chris
