Jensen 25 Upgrade to Jensen 25GI bought this Jensen 25 from eBay like this:
After cleaning bought a few parts, cut a piece of Plywood, painted it and mounted everything.
Now it looks like this:
Had a good time putting this together. Good against daily stress...
I know is not a big deal but... man it feels good just to upgrade!

Very nicely done. It looks just great !!!
Since it has the cast iron generator, it most resembles the latest #10's.
Am I seeing things or did you have a 25G aluminum tag made up for it?

Rob, that is a first class job there...congratulations. Since that #15 cast generator came from me and I know how it looked when it left here, I am VERY impressed with your refinishing. Casting bubbles are gone and color matching was perfect.
I agree with Gil, you have virtually turned it into a late model #10...
thanks for sharing,

That does look better, maybe I ought to do that with my Jensens.

This is a pic of the generator after disassemble and cleaning it.
.
Note the plastic insulator on top of one of the round rubber insulators. If you service your generator make sure you do not drop this. Easily replaced, it is just a piece of silicon or plastic small hose but your generator will not work correctly without this.

I was lucky that John Reid serviced mine for me before I got it and I can get the bulb to flicker when I spin the pulley by hand.

I did the same exact thing with my 25. Also using a cast base generator. You did a better job with the paint on yours. What color did you use? I have been considering taking mine off and repainting it to the correct color.....

The color does not exist as such.... it is custom made.
What did you do to the firebox surface? looks really nice!!!
Nice job!

I started with a brand new firebox, boiled the paint off and polished the copper plating underneath.....
I think I can get a hammertone paint that is at least similar. That blue works fine on engine frames, but not on the 15 base..

Wow. I really love how these engines look on a wood base. Nice job indeed!
