Hi Guys , heres my newly acquired Jensen 25G that arrived here today all the way from El Salvador !
Bought to cannibalise for its cast base 15 , now not so sure .
Maybe it can sit on the shelf awhile ....
Having only a 2 core cord , i jury rigged an earth wire till i get around to fitting a proper new cord .
And a big thanks to robertosala .... thanks Rob !

Hey, that has the exact same engine as a Jensen 75. How come you don't hate it??
Something is wrong here.

Yes the cast base generators do not have a ground to the armature and always run better one way then the other. Rog does a nice trick with running a ground on the older generators.

Just a very simple nickeled paperclip (plastic coated won't work).
I bend it such that one end is held by a ground screw under the casting and the other end discreetly reaches up thru the square hold under the rotating shaft and touches that shaft to make a better ground.
I love the old cast iron Jensen 15, but without the ground contact used on the newer aluminum ones, it sometimes won't make a good electrical circuit as oil gets between the rotating shaft (ground) and the cast iron uprights.
Five minute "fix", easily removed later if desired with no harm done.

Thanks for the kind replies guys !
Jan , i gotta admit , i`m a bit confused over model number designation , but as the nameplate says 25G , thats what i`m going with .
Dean , hate a 75 ? .... never !
I always wanted a 75 but could never seem to find one .
Jeff and Rog , thanks for the great info about the cast base 15 , i was more than curious about the grounding problem and was going to ask the question , so thanks for that .
