That's a cute little bugger. Wilesco whistle in it gives a good idea of scale.
Pocket sized travel steam engine, for those long road trips where you can't take the D22 along

Thats is a really great little engine.
Look like the Jenny Wren in Tubal Canin's book.
I would love to make one that side some day, but think a normals size one might be best to start with.

Tom, that is just plain cute. I see the Wilesco whistle, so it gives one a relative size. Looks like polished aluminum or maybe stainless construction.
Can't read German...can you give a few specifics like materials used in construction and price!!
thanks,
Rog

heres the babelfish translation rog
"This pretty small machine exhibits a characteristic: it can be divided into three main parts and fits thus comfortably into each jacket pocket. With its simple structure it reminds of the old English toy steam engines of the 30's to 50's. All individual parts consist of high-quality nickel plated brass, the steam boiler are hardsoldered and with functional dampfpfeife equipped. The control is made by the reciprocating cylinder. With the existing cord run groove smaller operating models can be propelled. The model with Esbit drying fuel is beaconed. Accessories: Hopper Esbit tablets manual height approx.. 180 mm, piston diameter 6 mm, stroke 8 mm."

Now why didn't I think of Babel fish...always amusing how it translates things...but you get the idea none the less.
OK Tom...still curious about the price as that didn't seem to come thru on translation.
thanks,

H'llo, Rog! That babelfish is really something - pretty rough, but the gist of meaning is transported nicely. The cylinder osciliates (repre ... what?), and it uses Esbit. All machines are hand made, pre-tested with steam before sale, are up to normal EU safety standards, bla, bla. Hmmmm, I think I've posted my opinion on Wilesco turn-lever whistles often enough - I'll say again! I hate them! Wilesco has the neat pull-chain whistle, why don't they use it on this little darling? Price is 155 Euros - which I find decent for this little gem. That's 219 $ as of today's rate (Dollar's horribly low - I' blaming this on ... okay, no politics ), sans postage and customs.
I'm hooked! Want one! Now! Liebes Christkind, ich wünsche mir eine ...
Cheers, me friends,

H'llo, my friends! "Spieleeck" just emailed me - the machine has a normal boiler - no flue, so the chimney is cosmetic. What do you think? To my mind, that's okay, due to the little chuffer's size. To Austria, postage is 9,90 Euros, delivery time 10 days.
Kind greetz,
