L-S LOC Mini Rocket "Train"The delightful little Mini Rocket seen below came in yesterday's mail and the HO track needed to run it came in today's mail. Nice way to end the old year and bring in the new!
The Mini-Rocket comes with the replica 1829 engine and tender...I added 3 little Bachmann "Prussia" coaches that seemed a perfect match. I have no idea if it can pull all three, but I will give it a try after some running in on air. If it can't pull three coaches, I'll remove one or two as needed.
From seeing video of Kenneth's example, they seem aptly named and rocket down the track without enough weight to slow them down. I still need some little track joiner pins due here Mon. or Tues....for now, just a static display. Hopefully a video within the week.

Roger: you need to run that thing with the wagons and post a video as soon as possible before I go NUTS. That looks like so much fun. The coaches look perfect.
This is an exciting development. But why run it on air? It seems like that would be more fiddly than just lighting it up.

Keith, as received the engine is a bit stiff. Kenneth (Benchmark), advised that he ran his about 45 minutes on air and it loosened up considerably. I tried running it on air last nite with some success, but my silicone air line kept popping off the tiny water inlet nub to the boiler...boy is this thing tiny to fiddle with! I did get it running in 30 second spurts before losing the air line. All part of the fun I guess!
Gotta wait a couple of days to make a video though...got new track in, but it doesn't come with the tiny pins to join it together. Ordered those separately and they should come Mon or Tues.

If anyone is interested in those little HO coaches...here is an eBay link to the place I bought mine from. They are plastic, but do have metal wheels and are nicely detailed.

They sell them in sets of 3 with first car having a seat mounted up high on it's front. They also sell single coaches, but at such low price, I thought it better to buy three for almost same postage.

i remember that happened to me a lot at first too , i discovered that the air pressure only be between 0.25 - 0.75 bar for best results. Any air pressure above 1 bar would require me holding the tube with my fingers to keep it there otherwise it shot off the boiler like you describe.
Copious oiling every 15 mins in the cylinders , try to ensure the pistons are put back exactly in the same side and direction every time you remove them.

Rog, you have found a great looking option for carriages for your Mini Rocket.
Kenneth, thanks for the air pressure tip as I'm sure I will be attempting the same process as there is now one of these in the Office of Steam.

That is *the* best looking train I've seen on here, bar none.
Now I'll have to go find something to clean up the drool...

Those little coaches look so correct with the locomotive, I hate to say I would be tempted to paint the loco Yellow and white like the hornby ones! I know, this would be wrong, but still....
