Latimer L4

Hi all,

Here is a bit of video of my Latimer L4 - this is now a pristine little engine, assemblem from the one I already had combined with the one I just got off Ebay. Runs like sh*t off a shovel!

SPOKESMAN

Wonderfully quiet Moose! Nice looking little unit!

Nice little engine there Mooseman!
Steve_S

Very nice! Which bits did you use from your original engine?

Cheers Steve. I kept the boiler, chimney/safety valve, level plug and firebox - I basically transplanted the boiler assembly.

I'm really pleased with this one, for such a little engine it packs a surprising punch. Must get an L5 as well....hmmm.....
Steve_S

You may be able to get an L5 at STIA.... more chance than eBay. But you never know of course!

I'll certainly have a look....I keep telling myself to keep off EBay and save up for STIA, but these little bargains keep cropping up....first the Cyldon, now the Latimer. I'm glad now that I didn't go after that Sea Jay, I wouldn't have been able to afford either of these.

....swings and roundabouts, I guess....
Steve_S

Yes, I had more or less given up on eBay but there have certainly been some bargains in the last couple of weeks! I've got my eye on a couple of Bowmans at the moment but we'll see how it goes.

As Spokesman would say, STEAM IN!

Exactly!!

Nice looking engine.
It looks pretty small how does it compare to an SE1 or SE2?

It's a size smaller - the boiler's only 9x4 cm. Sturdy little bugger though! The boiler's VERY heavy gauge brass, and the flywheel is a solid spun brass disk with an integral pulley.

Lovely little engine Odilon. Great runner too.

Is there no end to the list of must have motors?
