So what's inside your naval picket boat Les?

I was wondering when someone was going to ask.
It is my pride and joy of the Cheddar range, it is a Cheddar Proteus.

That's superb Les, where is the gas tank, and where does the boiler feed enter the boiler?
|
Les

I use the disposable gas bottles
which fit quite nicely in the front hatch.
The boiler feed enters the boiler just here through an inline non return valve
and it is controlled by this tap on a permanent pump.

Thanks for that, she must be able to steam for hours. What is the flexible gas tube called?

She does, I just bring her in to refill the water tank, oil and check the water gauge and off she goes again.
I am not sure of the technical name for the tubing except it is what they use on Calor Gas Heaters.

A few close ups of the Bowman Swallow and the African Queen.

This is the last boat I have to go on this table, it is something I picked up off of e-bay a few years ago for a restoration project when things were relatively cheap.
It is either a Bowman or Bowmanesque steam launch but the boiler and engine are Bowman. See what you make of it.

From the shape of the hulll I'd say it's a Hobbies boat - the engine is unmistakably one of GBJ's designs.

Thanks for that, and would anyone have a picture of a Hobbies burner as the burner with it has been made from a MM1 boiler.
