Lincolnshire Show and Chantry's on Telly!

Well it was the 1st day of the Lincs show today.

I really really enjoyed it. Hard work though!

Got 6th with my tup, which was great, THEN, I got 2nd out of 13 with my gimmer.

Bloody hell. 2nd out of 13 would be great any time, but at the Lincs show was unbelievable!

I beat breeders that have been going for like 40 year

They filmed the Lincolns and did an interview with the oldest breeder, Frank Martin. That will be shown on Countryfile a week on sunday on whatever channel it is (BBC1 I think).

Also got filmed for Calendar (local news) and loads of other random things.

Bloody brilliant day.

The judge was American and just couldn't decide wether to put me 1st or the other, but 2nd is marvellous!
johnreid

Wow! Thats great! Yep, you cant win first all the time, but I bet this is a sign of things to come. First place will be yours.

Congrats on a great showing, and please, no autographs after the TV showing.

I hope someone knows how to capture it for a YouTube type video I would love to watch.
Sandman

Well done Jimbo.

Great result.

Well done Jimmy
James

Thanks very much guys.

The class they were filming while the ginger bloke was talking, dad was in not me (he always takes Eric the tup in - he's his favorite   )

I've bought another sheep from the same flock as Amber today, and I've also been struck by some amazing kindness.

The "grand daddy" of Lincoln Longwools came up to us, asked how many we've got etc. He's only got 20 Lincolns left, but he needs to scale down to 10. To cut as long story short, he's giving me 3 or 4 gimmers for free (worth about £200 each) to help me get set up

AND there was a tup sold last year for nearly £800, well he's got the twin brother to it, which he bought before the sale for £250. He said we can take that aswell for free

Pics uploading.

I'm still on cloud nine
James

A couple of pics before I bugger off:

James...was the guy in the business suit and flat cap a judge???  If so, he probably gave you extra points for being properly dressed in Lincolnshire attire!!
James

With the back to the camera, aye! He's the one from America! Real nice bloke. He pulled me out early on with the lambs, didn't do well with them at all, but he explained why he pulled them out and put them where he did.

He said it's alot different showing Lincolns over here than over there, he said if we took Amber (the one who got 2nd) over to America she'd wipe the floor with them
johnreid

Wow a streak of good fortune James, great pictures too.

James

LOL!!

I've got 10 pure Lincolns now, 1 Texel/Lincoln cross, and am getting some more!

Next year, I'll excel
johnreid

Remember James, quality, not quantity is what counts. More sheep means more work.
James

Aye mate I know, but we've just got 6 more acres of grazing down at the Petrol Dump, and another one of dad's mates has got 17 acre we can use, plus about 4 acres of orchard, 3 acres down the lane we don't graze and about another 5 acres of bank

So we've got the space, just needs fencing off
James

Halter training Gimmer Lamb proved to be an interesting task!!!

Took hours, but it was worth it. She just laid down on you!

When she started playing up coming out of the ring, I just picked her up and carried her

Sandman
