Purchased a bit more recently, what drew me to this engine is the way that it looks so much like a little hit-miss engine. I like the colour scheme as well.
It is the same principle as the Liney Thimble in that is uses a thin disk for a piston that tilts on the return stroke to let the exhaust escape.
It is running here on a very gutless little aquarium pump. In the future I may fit a PTO to it and just see what it can lug while under steam. Just eyeballing it I am certain that a Jensen pulley will fit (and look the part).

What a very clever idea and a nice little engine.

WOW. Now that certainly is a bit different.

I like that Mark. I saw one on Lance Erickson's site, but it caught me short of cash. I've got four of his engines and love each one...3 of the 4 use that thimble tilting piston concept which works exceptionally well.
Never made the connection, but it DOES look like a miniature Hit & Miss!
