Live Steam Loco` Books???

Good Morning all,
Over the years I`ve collected a good few Books for research and enjoyment on the Dunny,
so far, I`ve not had the pleasure of obtaining a copy of a Book about Gear driven Live
Steamers, is/are there any about? and/or where could I find one of these!.

There is a lot on Loco` Decorations, Meths Live Steamers, Gas Live Steamers, but none that
I`ve been lucky enough to find on Geared Loco`s!.

These could be very important to Live Steamers like myself who are damaged in the Legs
and cannot catch the normal Live Steam Loco`s, and could really enjoy a stroll along while
being in controll of a Geared Beasty!.

Any help in my quest to obtain one of these Mythical Texts would be greatly appreciated!.

Thank You All,

Stingy John.

At the above site, you will find technical books on machining, constructing geared locomotives in 3/4" scale. I have a copy of the first Shay edition book, lots of information provided within.

Books

Good Morning Pauly,

1. I was already aware or the U.S. contribution,
2. I am a Member of the De Winton outfit,
3. I would love to and possibly will build a "Climax" in time, but I
feel USPS Charges will make their Book prohibitive in price!, that
said, I might try for a Second Hand Copy as it looks good, or an
Australia outlet that carries it in stock!.

What I was seeking is a Stand alone book that a person could
use as a reference point in Scratchbuilding and Modifications and
other little ventures we sometimes get in our Hobby, I`m quite
surprised to find one do`se not seem too exist at the moment.

This leads to the next question!, What would be required to take
the time too put together a book of this content, and wether
People would be prepared to have input, {with recognition} to
make this a Project or not??.
HMmm, really is worth a thought!.

Got a better deal

While looking around for a Book to cover Geared Loco`s I came
upon "Kozo`s Building a Climax" 225 Pages of information on
exactly what I was hoping to build in Live Steam.

One Mob in the u.s. wanted $50.00usd  for it plus $35.00 usd P&P,
now in my opinion thats a lot of dollars to wrap a book!,

The second mob when I searched around wanted $48.00 usd for
the exact same book and $17.00 usd for P&P,   and we wonder
why we are in a recession??   DUH!.

My search has well and truely ended, now to start work!, as soon
as I complete the Loco` I`m in the middle of.

You know that you can get the Climax book directly from the publisher,

As I said before, I have a copy of the Shay book and it is loaded with information, and building every thing from raw stock.

yes Gutmach,
That is the one that wanted $35.00 usd for P&P
but thanks nevertheles,
Stingy John.

If it is a hardbound book, that is probably a realistic postage cost. Dooks weigh a lot. At $50 USD it better be hardbound
John R

Books,

I agree John, there can be a lot of wieght in an "A4" size book,
so I wonder how the other mob handle this at $17.00 P&P??
Still, time will tell!.

Just to let you know, yes, Kozo Hiraoka's books are hardbound, but I find that $35 P&P fee a tad steep.

By trade, Kozo Hiraoka is a mechanical engineer with the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries firm, so he knows his stuff.

I recently re-discovered his how-tos on fabricating a water glass gauge (pages 82, 83, and 84), and I am going to use his approach in order to fabricate my own.

Yes Gutmach,
I had a Gut [pardon the pun] feeling this book would hold a little
more than just a Build a Climax, I feel even better now after your comments!.
