Looking for replacement valves

I have a pre-1900's Schoenner overtype steam engine that I'm trying to restore.  I'm missing some parts that I hope to fabricate, but a couple may be beyond my capability.

I need some replacement valves and an old-style weighted pressure safety valve.  The valves I need look to be the same type used on a number of these old German machines such as Bing, Doll, and Falk.  Can anyone help me locate replacements or new manufacture that look similar?  Older Jensen valves look similar (I can turn the handles to give the correct profile) but Jensen doesn't seem to offer this particular part.

Thanks, if anyone is interested I can display progress photos.  At his point I have the boiler opened to replace some backing plates and iron out some dents.

Hello and welcome to the forum! As GJ says, Mirko is probably the man to help here, but I'm sure many of us would be interested in seeing some pictures.

Hi, welcome to THE forum, hope we can help

Mirko does have advice on sites in Germany that have weights- they do come up on ebay.de as well, worth a look, use a free translater on the web, and it should be possible to understand the language

PLEASE do pics especially in pieces! - Im especially interested as I have a Schoenner verticle- follow this thread down. They seem more common in the USA for some reason.

Hi EVR,

Welcome aboard...someone on here (most likely Mirko as already mentioned), should be able to get you some info.

As for Jensen valves...I don't think they sell them as stand alone items, but they DO sell them as part of a steam line.  I have bought several Jensen 60 (smallest/cheapest) steamlines direct from Jensen and desoldered the valves to use as replacements.  The rest of the steam line tubing and fittings can also find a possible future use.  Might be an expensive way to buy a valve ($25 USD for a Jensen 60 steamline)...but if they fit the need and nothing else is available, they are a high quality valve.

cheers,
Roger

Hi there...
I see its my turn now

Please put in some pics, so i can see wich engine you have.
Unfortunateyl i do not have any spareparts for old schoenners, but i know a guy who does restorations on every kind of engine.
He can make you some new parts for some €€€
I have 2 schoenner locomobiles at the moment, maybe they have some parts yours i smissing. So i could sent them to the restorator as patterns.

By the way, his official website is:

I just looked at that site, that is one interesting site. Even if I am not a German speaker, I enjoyed looking about. Thanks for posting that link.

Old Schoenner Restoration

You all have been very helpful, especially the referral to Kautzner's website.  Some of the things he has posted are just what I need.  All I need now is to learn German.

A couple of you have asked for photos.  I'd be happy to but haven't a clue how to post them in this website!  None of my tricks seem to work.

A lot of work on that engine but some serious potential there for a great engine.

Schoenner Mods

I'm thinking, since I can't seem to find an original replacement for the water level gauge, does anyone have an opinion about using the attahed?

Thanks much.  Oh, the gauge is available in brass, not chrome.
tmuir

Can't help you with what you would the closest to original but if that is what it takes to get it working again by all means use it.
