Lovely documentary on Scottish poetry.

The vales, the ragged mountains and deep lochs all inspire a profound sense of destiny in the inhabitants of these distant parts.

That sense of being can find expression in such wonderful words as those uttered by one of Scotia's own sons;

Very true. But rarely remarked on outside of the literary community is how decimalization of the currency  made his stunning use of units such as "sixpence" and "a shilling" to say nothing about "two bob" tragically inaccessible to later generations.

It is a bit sad Petri, but you do know that these "higher" art forms were never really intended for the masses!

Of course they are. They ennoble the spirit of man no matter what station in life.

I dabble in poetry, no intention of publication, and that is written for each and one

Well, since you wish to play that card, let me rephrase.

Perhaps it would be more accurate to have said, the masses were never keen for the "higher" art forms!

... or as the old saying goes ... "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink"!!!

While you may write your poetry, for each and every one ... do they all come around to read it?

ps: All written to fit in with the original post and vid, as I was just teasing , you know?!?!

Thank you so much--I am a huge fan of all poetry- serious and not

I love how poetry distills and makes each word weigh so much more than when used in other written forms.   Those were some heavy word s indeed:rofl:

Even when delivered with a smirk on your face

The Python boys just keep delivering well after the deed
