Luton Bowman PW202 Overtype

Here are a few pics of my recently acquired Luton PW202.

This is one of the rarest Lutons and I have to thank MM for alerting me to it and also for uniting me with the correct burner.

I've not made up my mind just how I'm going to proceed with this one, as I've not cleaned it up yet.

Here it is, warts and all.

Nick

Looks great!

Is that flywheel original?

Nice one Sandy!

I think such as its rarity I'd leave it as it is! Or see what it looks like cleaned up then decide? At least if you do it that way you can change your mind

Look forward to the finished article mate

The flywheel is original, but the pulley is an add on.

The correct pulley is behind it.
Nick

Thanks,

So did it end at the pulley and just have the shaft sticking out after the pulley?

I kind of like the looks of the add-on.

They've moved the original pulley in, and put the other pulley on the shaft.

I agree, it looks like a nice pulley.
johnreid

That one will clean up nicely.

The two extra holes in the base plate are interesting. They appear to be in exactly the right places to attach the engine frame of a PW201, so presumably they used the same stock of bases for both models. That's not surprising as most of the other components are the same too.

Well spotted Steve.

I haven't really looked closely at it yet.

That would certainly explain the holes.
Les

That's nice, and the extra pulley looks as if it is off a German accessory.
Lewis

Lovely engine there sandy

I have seen one of these before and it is my fave bowman even though i know nothing about them
Mamodman123

Will you paint the burner red again?
James

That looks great Sandy!!

Looks great Sandy

I'd leave the engine as it is, but repaint the burner
Sandman

I might just repaint the burner and the centre of the flywheel.

I really need to give it a good clean and steam it first, before I come to any decision.
