Luton Bowman, repaired svHere you go guys.
The safety valve is now doing a proper job. I am still using the old leather washers, but soaked them all in oil. Still leaking but still. It also seems to have a very small leak by the steam dome, and the regulator leaks.
But I am not going to worry about any of that as it is running extremely well. It "ticks over" very slowly and smoothly, and really flys if you open the regulator. It could do with being bolted down!
Really chuffed with it.
Forgot that I turned down the quality of the video on the camera, but should be ok.

Chris, I'm not having a go at u, but real steam engines leak as well.

Runs really well now Chris
Excellent runner!
You usually get steam from a bowman valve anyway so I wouldn't worry too much

Yes, I am not going to worry about any of the other leaks as they are all very minor and don't impact on how it runs.
It was the spring in the safety valve that needed sorting as I could feel it was very weak compared to the mamod safety valves and it would start leaking as soon as the burner was underneath.
Anyway, fixed the hole in the burner, and fixed the safety valve with help from the guys on the forum. Thanks lads.

Chris, dandy engine there...I have never seen a Luton model operate that I recall...quite responsive to the regulator!
I have found a bit of thick steam oil worked into regulator and whistle inerds goes a long way to cutting down seepage from them, sometimes stopping it completely.
Great piece,
Rog

Nice runner, glad you got it fixed. I have a PW203 and a PW201 and both are great runners.

I prefer mobiles over stationaries, but might get one more stationary at some point if one stands out at a good price. Glad I got this one. It is surprisingly powerful and I think it looks good even if I can't be bothered with the polishing.
Might like some form of double action do-hicky if I get another stationary.

I know all the proper technical talk you know.
Do-Hicky is a Belgian brand, later rebranded as Doo-Dah, then taken over by a Dutch company called Whojamaflip. It is often confused with the small company from Luxemburg called Thingamybob.
I would have thought you steam types would have known that.

I have been very tempted by a 455 since seeing your video. Quite like the idea of a vertical.

They are very nicely designed and built - powerful and smooth.
