M167Here's the M167 that I bought off eBay a while ago:
The axle was a very sloppy fit in its bearing so I've made a new bearing from some brass tubing that's a much better fit. I've also made a chimney and burner for it using methods I've described before. I haven't repainted this one as I think there's enough left of the original paint to keep. I've cleaned off the surface grime from the base by giving it a good rub with T-cut, then I gave it a shine with some wax polish.
And here it is with its Bowman brothers:

Great job Steve- and personaly Im glad that youve kept the paint as it is- though its a difficult call usually with Bowmans.
Did you make a filler plug as well

Thanks for all your comments!
Tom, I made the overflow plug but the SV is from mamodparts.com. If anyone needs a Bowman SV I'd recommend that source... they're excellent.
Les, yes, just three gaps in the collection, but as we've remarked before, the M130 won't be easy. But then there's the Wormars, and the locos, and the boats, and a couple of Lutons............

That's a nice collection, I can live without the 130 but I'd really like a 101 for my for my line up, one day maybe.

I have to say, your Bowman chimneys are a work of art.
Excellent workmanship.

Steve can you do a guide to making the level plugs? Specifically what did you use as the little "arm", I have 2 that have gone, one comeout the other sheared off.

Hi Tom. All I did was to find a little brass bolt of the right thread size then solder the arm piece into the screwdriver slot of the bolt. I widened the slot a bit first with a small triangular file. The arm is made from the shaft of a nail but you can usually get brass rod in model shops that would look better.

I didn't realise that you made the replacement funnel yourself (makes mental note to read posts properly ), fantastic job.
I think a rummage through some of your old threads is in order some time!

I've made various bits from time to time.... and they're all on here somewhere!
Here's the chimney thread:
