Making the living van has begun!Got word from my mate today that he has got me a chassis, and got the floor done!! Will be about 6 months before it is finished

Here's a pic of the gypsy caravan he restored, and the (green) living van he made from scratch.
Incase you're wondering, enginemen used to sleep in them. They would be towed behind steam engines, like Rollers, and while the driver and firemen were working there they would sleep in the van.
It's going to have a bed, cupboard etc etc, and a wood burning/coal burning stove
Oh aye, and of course a gramafone!!!
Will use it at shows and that

Ahh most people say that, but I always say, the PC helps me research and further my interest in the past, so it's allowed

Could do your cooking on a spit as well, saw somewhere a spit in National trust house. Above it was a wheel where they put a dog to run the spit

Bloody hell
I know in the Old Hall in Gainsborough there is a massive spit, which were turned by a small boy

In some old country houses the spit was rotated by a small steam engine with the boiler heated by the fire in the range. And in one old house I've been to... can't remember where... the spit was turned by a Stirling engine.

... what a project, Jim, congrats! Be sure to get a victorian computer. I, in fact, am sitting before one this very minute. 'Tis an original John Harding Digit Chaser Supreme, made ba Harding, Harding, Harding and Fizzletoe of Blackburn, Lancashire, ca. 1859.
... ten thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire. And though the holes were rather small, I had to count them all. Now I know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall.
