Mammod hammer accessory

I just purchased some red paint for the base on my SE3 but before I painted it I wanted to trial it on something smaller. I'm happy with the results, judge for yourself.
For thos in OZ the paint I used was Septone Products, Engine Enamel, Bright Red. I sprayed it yesterday and baked it in the oven at 80 degrees C for 25 mins to cure it today.

A lovely 1950s example,I take it you repainted the base Tony!?
tmuir

Yes base only, was 50% paint and 50% rust when I got it on the base., the rest was ok once I cleaned the dirt off it.

Looks very presentable now - colour is very close too!

Nice job tmuir
Steve_S

That looks very good!

Nice work tmuir! I personally have never seen a tool with a red flywheel before... Are they quite uncommon?
James

I have a couple with red flywheels

Can anyone date it precisely for me?

1953-63. If the box was present I could date it more accurately.

I didn't realise it was that early but I guess that would put it about inline with my SE3 I am restoring that it came with.

Quite! sometime during the 60s Mamod started 'clipping' the wheels to get a shiney rim, they also increased in diameter and the rim thickness decreased too.

Looks good, nice to see you didn't over do it & repaint everthing.

What make of red paint or (colour code would be even better) did you use as its seems an excellent match?

Go to the top post in this thread and I mention the brand name.
Don't know if it is available outside Australia though.
Yes I believe in leaving as much as possible original, only repainted the base as it had lost almost 50% of the paint on top.

Ford Rosso red works over here - so MM says!

Ford Highland green works for the bodies . . .
