Mamod roadster run.Well, weather hasn't been favorable, too gusty, and most outdoors are uneven so I finally did what any responsible adult would do -I cleaned out my kitchen floor so I can play with my toys
Not a speed monster but that is due to the meths burner that goes out after 5mins so I'm working on that now.
Here goes and hope you enjoy

Thanks, Bob, I only wish I had gotten it when a kid

That's the only "dislike" about Mamod steam cars, they need lots of space to play with. Ok, the exhaust pointing at the floor is also a minor nuisance.

It's fun once you find the space it wants
I'm going away tomorrow and I'm not sure I have anything it fits with ease

Hi,
I have had one of those sitting in the work shop for a couple of months having seeing how well they perform I must do something about getting it running.
Regards Tony.

Runs well. I have one that I built out of a kit so it was new. I took one of the belts off and ran it for about 3 boiler worth to seat it in. But cannot get it to run much nothing like yours. Yes they take more room to run then the tractor. Thanks for the video!

I have an unfired roadster and a fire engine that I converted
to gas. Runs great, but has a habit of banging into
everything. : Anyway, thanks for
the video. No photobucket complaints here.

Thank you very much, gentlemen
I forgot about the crash but it is part of being mobile I guess
The burner is tested to 10mins of nice flame so it's all ready for the road

Thats as good as they go and yours is a very nice example.
The twin cylinder LeMans model has a bit more grunt from what I have see on a video.
I have a wrecked model, like this one, which is waiting for some mods to squeeze more performance out of it. They really need a twin double acting engine to stop them stalling on a small stone or bump.

Putting a rubber line on the rear connection took away any slippage but it is a very heavy engine and steam hungry.
I'm trying to imagine what something similar would do with a slide valve setup.
Comparing to the D36 I would say they are about on par for torque but the D36 is also a very heavy engine.
I 'spose the first step would be to equip the roadster with a slide valve setup for comparison.
