Mamod SE2AHad this sooty little engine for some time now:
Started to clean her up, but after hours and hours of polishing this was all I'd done! Almost gave up.
Then I saw David Curtis' thread on his SE1. And I thought I had problems at the beginning. Inspired by his accomplishment, I started again. Resprayed the firebox but left the base original.

To be honest Richard, I think it needs the base done now to complete the job.
You've done such a good job of the rest, it's a shame not to do the base.
Not a criticism, mate, merely a suggestion.

She sure does look nice now.
That is a real nice job Richard !!!
I like the idea of doing restoration work a piece at a time.
This allows one to carefully consider how far to go. Remember it is easy to repaint anytime,
but going back to original from fresh paint is impossible.

But of course I'm hoping she'll be interested in owning that and many others.

A fab job, and I echo the comments on the base, it would finish it off nicely
