Mamod SP2 confessions of a perfectionist
Bought this SP2 a while back, and it goes like the clappers,
BUT theres a very poor solder job on the boiler
It keeps bothering me, so finally I attacked with a blowtorch
Before All shrouded with wet cloths
after.
I heated and scuffed the old solder off first with a blunt old screwdriver
Then I heated again, and got the last lumpy bits off with wire wool
Then wet and dry
Then a small amount of flux around the pipe
Heat, add a SMALL piece of solder, stand back and enjoy

Very nice, Tom!
Think I'll be sending you a few engines.

Any progress with that one?
Bit of a lost cause if I remember correctly.

I know how you feel, after looking at it for so long, you just have to fix it.
You did a great job on the solder.
