its not going too bad
I have taken it all apart the base
I have had the end cap off bush now fixed I have soldered both bushes just to be on the safe side
the boiler before
the boiler after a quick clean and soldered the end cap back on

You've got quite some work to do there But you're already off to a good start with the boiler.

Well, he told me that too, and send me the side panels for the new SP5, they will not fit.
I think the only way to get the side panels looking nice is painting them black, chroming is just so expensive
I you like, you can check out my (failed) sp5 restoration here, somewhere in that topic there's also a comparioson image of the new and old SP5 sides.

A bit more progress I have done the fire box the chrome was so bad there was no way to bring it back.

Very cool, The silver looks great. The modern sides do not have the three embossed squares and would look out of place. I suspect You have the ideal solution.

I hope it will cope it is vht paint temperatures up to 1110°F, 600°C I have had no problems with the black gloss so see how this silver paint copes

When I was in engineering, we used a silver high temperature industrial paint and it was excellent.
We found it to be better than any other colour for standing up to some pretty high temperatures.
I've got high hopes that it will work out fine.

What a great idea! I didn't know they made also silver VHT paint, I was already making plans to paint the chrome sides on my SP5 black.

The sight glass has not turned up as of yet and I have been feeling
