I was lucky, I got my SP6 as a Christmas present and my SP7 for my 50th birthday.

You forgot to mention that the SP7 is order only which renders it quite rare.
They are tempting choices both of them even if they have a bit much shine because they represent a new step techjnically for Mamod and the SP7 must be amongst the top of what is produced today.

Do they still make the SP7? I looked on Mamond s web site and they do not show it.

I have a sp6, its lovely to watch at about 120 rpm on the tach. I have machined an adapter and fitted a pressure gauge. It also runs on a bix burner. Little short on power but still nice!!

It is made to order only, you need to contact them first.

The one thing i don't like about the SP6 is the exhaust on them is quite messy and it would be nice if you had a pipe so you could channel it to a chuff pot.

I kinda wondered about that too...
It`s a rather new construction and it seems to spit all over, wonder why they didn`t fit an exhaustpipe to get the worst of it away from the engine

That is what put me off one a while ago, watching the videos of it, some of them make quite a mess on the bases. It really needs to be vented away.
The SP7 is indeed only by special request, and is not listed for sale anywhere.

I just "Googled" SP7, because I forgot what it looked like and scrolled down the pictures until I found a typo!
(It's Les his SP6. (Almost all "hits" on Google are from this forum, so that didn't surprise me.))
"Wassertand beachten" should be "Wasserstand beachten". I wonder if all Mamod engines have this typo.
That's an interesting discovery on the typo, in case you didn't find the SP7 here is a picture of it.

At around £200 it is hardly a bargain, but it certainly packs a punch.

The label on my SA1 is spelled correctly.

How much do SP7 cost
wyvern
Correct me if I am wrong but I believe about £350. Its quite a beast and a heck of alot of brass to warm up in that cylinder block.

the SP1 is not real big bore and stroke but I am sure the SP7 would be better.
