Mamod SR1A InstructionsWhilst at Tilford I bought my nephew an SR1A.
After returning it for some repairs, it is now ready to run, and he is asking me for instructions.
Can anyone point me to the original Mamod instructions. I can then forward them to him and merely elaborate on details.
This will save me a lot of time explaining the basics. It's his first steam engine.

I might have an actual copy that could scan in the morning, too dark to go through my papers, but till then here is a copy ( SR1, same instructs I believe )

Thanks John,
I'm not sure MM's SR1 instructions will work for a novice. His engine is Esbit fired and the instructions don't deal with the forward/reverse lever. I think they would only confuse him.
Moreover, an illustrated example would be the most helpful. I don't think he knows the difference between a safety valve and a water plug.

Sounds like a good thread for someone to do. I have been tempted to do a How To Fire An Engine for my web page, but do not have a SR1A, I dont think I have a reversible Mamod. Too bad you are busy as that would be a perfect thread for Andrew to do.

I think what you need is a copy of Roly's book. It's brill for those first getting into the hobby. Very easy reading style and full of sensible advice on buying and running engines.

Sorry I can't help with actual instructions, but Stilldrillin did these ones for a person new to steam.
Although for a Jensen, they could be slightly modded.
