Hello and welcome to the forum!
For a first stop for cosmetic stuff I would recomend a visit to Alan's website here:
http://alan-briggs.fotopic.net/
He is a member of this forum and has been developing some rather nice bolt on cosmetic stuff for Mamods / mss, and their derivatives as well as a nameplate service.
I will be suprised if you cannot find something to your liking there!
This lot are a real friendly bunch and I am sure that any questions you may have will be answered happily - no question too silly!

We need to know what you're trying to repair.

Primarily G gauge stuff, but they do have lots of detail parts for engines of all larger sizes.

it's for fixing nameplates to my mamod. it is gs fired. and also for a piston head as it keeps falling of the piston rod

forget gluing piston rods, it just won't work, even on a small steam engine the glue wouldn't put up with the heat. You need to make the rod a tight fit in the piston head.
I have seen some of your pictures and want to make sure that what your calling the piston head is the bit inside the cylinder, not the bit that goes on the crankpin in the wheels as I remember seeing you had that problem.

no. it's the brass circle that goes on the end of the silver piston rod. i've ordered some nameplates from alan briggs. at the mo im using a special loctite designed for car engines

I wouldn't rely on any loctite tbh. Heat is generally the undoing of it. It might work for a bit but it won't fix it long term. The simplest fix I can think of is to silver solder the piston rod to the head but due to the way the cylinders are made even thats not that easy. I could ask my professional engineer friend how best to do it if you want. He knows pretty much everything about steam engines and engineering generally.
