Mamodman's Bowman familyHi Guys!
It's not something i've done before, so I thought I would put up a family picture of my Bowmans . Apologies for the state of the boilers I've not cleaned them after use . I think they all demonstrate the three different sizes of Bowman. Small, medium and LARGE
My first bowman was the M158 (top left) bought it for around 50 pounds. If anyone remembers it had solder all over the end caps and boiler. I need to replace the exhaust on this one as its been bent and kinked in several places. Ran ok though
My second Bowman was the M135 (top right), I bought this for around 69 pounds. Still needs an exhaust extention and oiler tap, it's on the to-do list I suppose . I run this one the most as it's the only one that runs well
My third and most recent Bowman is the M101 (bottom centre) which I bought off ebay this year. I can't quite remember the price, maybe about 70. The cylinder and piston are off for repair at Dauntless' gaff at the moment. Hopefully when that comes back repaired I can get a video up . You can probably see the rusty old stay rod on the base
I would like an M122 at some point, and i'm on the look-out for a loco too. Both seem to be going well out of my price range at the moment unfortunatly... but alas.. must keep looking

MM,
Three is such an odd number...you definitely need to add a 122 or loco to even things up
Nice to see them clustered like that, big, bigger and biggest!

A wonderful sight....great you have the cardboard box for the 158, those hardly ever survive. I'm sure the 101 will be fine, you'll love that once it's running properly.
Rog is right though....you need a 122, just so yo can do time trials with the SE4.

Excellent stuff MM.
No need to apologise for the state of the boilers. It shows signs of use, which makes them look better I think

Great engines MM. I missed you getting that far with the Bowmans. I wonder where you'll be going next? Do I remember rightly that you also own a SEL? Your collection gets more interesting all the time.

I can understand the oiler tap but why the exhaust extension, was it mad out of a different kind of material.

The exhaust extension just slides over the smaller pipe thats's attached to the exhaust port, a common feature on bowmans. If the chinmeys were removed for storage, then this pipe could easily come off & get lost.

Thanks MJ, but was it a copper pipe or what? I'd like mine to be authentic when I finish restoring it.

usually brass, i think the very early bowmans had all brass pipework

Yes, I agree with mj... the exhaust extension on my 135 is a bit of brass pipe. You can get suitable stuff at most model shops.

It's on the to-do list!
These Bowmans usually require a lot more work than Mamods do!
