Manx Mobiles

When Nick found a pic of my mobiles the other day, I agreed to do some more pics of my collection. I have been interested in toy steam for quite a few years but the last couple of years (and the forum) has seen my collection grow. To be honest I can't store all of my mobiles now in one place and so they are a little spread out round the house. I tend to try and have them in sort of groups and well I hope people like these.

This is the newest part of my collection. The top two shelves are Weeden mobiles dating from the 1920's and  the little truck is an Edelstaal kit from New Jersey. This makes up the American part of my collection.

On the bottom shelf are 3 New Zealand engines. From left to right, a Graham Heavey (Steamcraft) Steam Wagon, a Cranko Steam Roller and an Auld Steam Roller. Oh yes, and the figures are Busy Bodies.

These 4 models are a bit bigger than standard. I don't have a clue about the history of any of them. (one of them is a little Bassett Lowke).

This set of toys are all German and early. The top shelf has my Steam Wagon that I think maybe Carette (still can't prove it). The next shelf has a couple of Marklin mobiles. The third shelf 3 Bing engines and the bottom shelf, 2 Doll and a Fleischmann.

And then comes the shelves in the spare bedroom. This is where all the Mamods live (couple more Radsters hidden beside the desk). This is where I keep my Traction Engines. I promise you they are all different and all pure Mamod (except for one Steam4fun).

Along with the Mamods is a model from Japan (top shelf, far right) of a steam car. I also have some modern German models (all on the right) including a Tucher and Walther Steam Bike, a Lutz Hielscher ministeam car and examples of all the Wilesco mobiles.

Also in the middle of the shelves are some other British engines. These include (left to right) a Butcher Steam Roller, a Mastrand Steam Roller, a Passall tractor and a MSS Steam Van,

Under these are a pair of Wells School Traction Engines and another Traction Engine (almst certainly made for castings in the same way).

The bottom set of 4 mobiles are all still unknown. But one day I'm still hoping someone will join are forum and be also to tell me the history of any of them.

I've seen most of your mobiles before and even helped you get a few but I still like to take a few minutes and look at your collection because it's absolutely fantastic.

Those Busy Bodies figures go perfect with the steam wagon.
Just a thought have you asked Mirko about the possible Carette you got from Tasmania?
pauly

No not really. But I'm more than happy to help others look out for models. That's the great thing about this forum. We help each other and some how or other all of our collections are improved.

Thanks for the comments. I know most of these have been seen before. We really do have a fun hobby. I have my eye on a few more additions I'd like to add to my colection this year. I still feel their are new makers and models out in 'eBay land' just waiting to be found. I sure I'll be able to keep adding mobiles for a few more years yet.

Every time I see them Chris, I see something different I hadn't seen before, brilliant,     .  Still that Renown roller and Scorpion truck to get yet - definately no competition from me - why spoil all the fun,     .

Cheers

Chris
Cranko

Brilliant collection there  Manx and growing rather rapidly too

It is not until you see it shelved, that you realise just how big, rewarding and exciting a steam collection can be

That is truly inspiring
