Manx stationaryOnly joking but nearly got people going. This is my latest model and thanks to Mirko for helping with the dates etc.
This is a Marklin engine. I think it's had a couple of names over the years but it's the Marklin Converible or Marklin Meccano engine. This models has been made in two sizes and in both a more plain black / brass colour scheme and in this green / red style.
This is the smaller or the two models and the later colour scheme. It dates from between 1929 and the late 1930's. It's in good condition and I've only given it a clean (no polish).
The oil cap is wrong (but it does say oil on it) and the burner is missing the top of its filler cap. But apart form that I think it looks good and should be lots of fun.
Here's some pics. What do you all think.

Manx, you definitely got a "twofur" as we call it...maybe a transformer in more modern lingo. What a cool design and the fact that it is two engines in one makes it that much more special. I have never seen such a beast, thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the comments and I do think it will be fun. I can't understand why more firms haven't tried the same kind of idea.
These are rare on eBay UK but I've seen a few on German eBay. As I said (well as Mirko told me) this model comes in 2 sizes. It maybe worth keeping a watch out for another one but they are quite expensive.

Very nice, Chris,
Had me fooled at first. Don't think I've ever seen that before. Is it unique? Certainly was an idea way ahead of it's time.

Thanks for the comments. It's funny but some of the bits I buy, I like but very quickly they just become another engine. This is a little bit different and so I think is going to be fun for quite a while.
