Meccano Chest at a good priceI bought this last week after I spotted it in an Autobahn catalogue.
It is meant for tools but I thought it would house my loose Meccano pieces. $200 Australian, I thought was a bargain. It has loads of room and is nicely made with dove tail joints, the draws are deep enough
and the top part is nice and deep.
I plan to screw a Meccano name plate like this over the large Kinchrome name on the front.

Very nice. I love the wooden tool chests like that.
One is on my list of things to make before I retire (or after maybe).

It looks to nice to go in my shed so it is sitting next to my bed, my wife is tolerating me - barely I am hoping there will be a Meccano ferris wheel under the tree for me this year

I remember reading somewhere that the original Meccano boxes were made of oak which emits a slight acidic gas or something which ruins all the nickel plating on the meccano which is why you very rarely find a nice nickel plated set 10. (Not that I could afford to buy one)

I used to have an Oak machinists chest, they are wonderful tool chests. Lots of work has gone into the making of some.

Meccano did not make a set 10 nickel plated largest set in Nickel is 7 which i have (nickel 1908 to 1926)
you are probally referring to Zinc plating 1967 onward with regard to oak problems
.the cabinet above looks nice but being an Aussie i see you have some Ezybilt in there to

Well spotted, there are a few bits in there. I like the wheels with the three spokes, I am going to give them a tidy up when I can.
