Meccano Day at APS

We are holding our annual Meccano Day at APS on Sunday so I have been building a few extra steam powered items for use up on the Beam Floor well away from all the immaculate, electric driven models in the Big Shed.

The Windmill is just an attempt to find something my Mersey will drive without stalling
Looks impressive but no real technical complexity

The two locos are this year's innovations for The Great Corporation Road Locomotive Trials. I've not tested either so am probably in line for this years "Stephen Byers Trophy" awarded to the biggest disaster of the day.

Very ingenious!

Jeez Fred.

They sure look the part.

If they don't go, they should mate.

The chain drive loco worked ok once I had tweaked the chain tension a bit but the Crampton was a disaster. I think it's a case of "back to the drawing board"
Meanwhile, a few photos of Sunday at APS

A very good display.

Some great pics there Fred.

I wish I could attend more days at Abbey, but it's just too far for me.

The windmill is a ripper, a smaller one is on my list of things to make.

I love seeing the versatility of the MEC1 (and SP3).

I've made mine into a car, but I love the idea of a a Loco.  Now you've got me thinking

We'll be doing it all again next January.

Is there a Mamod SW1 (Wagon) converted to run on the rails too that I can see ? ?
Ah Clem

Outstanding!

After seeing this thread, and Moose's last week, I have to build one of these locos.

I found four Erector sets in storage the other day, that should get me the parts to do it.

What gauge are you running?  It looks larger than #1, but smaller than Standard Gauge.
Roly Williams

I think it's 3.5". What do you mean by "standard gauge"? Presumably not 56.5"
made-in-england

And ladies and gentleman why is 56.5" the standard for railway lines....

It just do happens to be the average hight of a damsel in distress
