Meccano Electrique 1

Hi Gents,

I had the good fortune to receive a Meccano Electrique 1 set in the original box. The set was completely Made in France, at the now idle factory in Paris. The set is a bit used, but nearly complete! The quality is outstanding.

Where can I find information about this set? Unfortunately, the instructions are missing. Is there a place I can download them?

Any advice appreciated.

Hi Scorpion

Here are some shots of the set:

The Cover:

The Made in France by Meccano Päris logo:

The set contents:

The quality guarantee (back when these actually meant something)

"All Meccano toys are made with the greatest care and very rigorously checked before leaving their factory. The Guarantee that we assure you is for your additional protection. In effect, if this article does not give you complete satisfaction, write us immediately with your precise complaint and enclose this guarantee."

The cardboard panels, some are missing and I have no idea what they should look like....

Any additional advice greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much!

I printed out the complete manual. Now I can order the missing parts. Just need to find a clean scan of the disc sheet and that will do it.

I am new to Meccano. I must say that the projects/models would be surprisingly challenging, especially for say a 12 year old let alone an adult

Indeed, second hand or replicas

I fully intend to build more than a few of the models in the manual.

Yes, I did get quite lucky. The very old man accross the street from my papa in law passed away. His kids just gave the set away to papa when cleaning out the house and he in turn passed it on to me for Christmas.

I have a box of new Meccano, shockingly still made in France. The plastic pieces are complete shite and the smaller parts tend to break easily. The mechanisms one constructs are quite "watered down" and the parts list hugely simplified. I truly abhore the "slip fit" attachment method for gears/pullies, etc. as opposed to set screws......

Some of the models however can still be somewhat challenging and interesting, especially trying to get them to function properly....

I will have to post a vid or two of some of the models I made for my son.

I honestly think that Meccano could find a substantial market re-issuing the orginal sets. I have a faint hope that some hero at Meccano France gives it a go and doesn't let the greedy fools in charge ship what's left of Meccano off to China.....

Cheers
