Mercer Traction engines

hi all,

I'm probably going to sell my Wilesco Roller for a Mercer (yes i know they're costly- but i think they're well built- i still like Wilesco's though.

Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone knows what the levers do on a Mercer engine?

Can this engine be run stationary? (like the Wilesco)

hope someone can help me.
thanks.

Mercer's are very much the same as their bigger cousins. There is a pole reverser, regulator handle, and a gear change mechanism. The type one TE is much cheaper, although lacks the features of the type two. Although a type one can be upgraded to a type two gradually

Is that a Foster? Looks just like one, but with a canopy.

no, James. she's a Marshall.
James

Marshall

Most Marshall TE's are brown.

Don't forget when you import into OZ as it will be over $1000 value you will be taxed.
They charge an inspection fee which I cant remember how thats worked out but its roughly $20 to $50 and then you get charged 10% GST which is 10% of cost of model, postage and inpsection fee.

I'm guessing postage will be 60 to 70 pounds and with cost of model so you could be up for another $150 to $200 in taxes.
steamyman

tmuir,

thanks. i was quoted $1930 (approx- Australian money) so, the total will be $2130 (approx)
