Merstham Model Steam Show, 16th - 17th May

Is anyone from here going?

I'm going on the Saturday, and I have already drawn up my shopping list

www.mmss.co.uk

I doubt I'll take anything to run, it's just something more to carry around.
Chris

I've just got in the door, and as per the norm it was a great show.

Before you ask, I didn't take any pics but I know Andy has.

A few new products from I.P. Engineerting were revealed (I've bought one of them, too!) and there were plenty of other very nice bits to be had. I ended up with:

6 bottles of Butane gas (you can't get the neat variety where I live...)
I.P. Engineering Penrhyn Quarryman's coach (we have two at Amberley!)
A Fauld wagon from Andy
4WD kit for my Hudson Hunslet
A bottle of 'Sit Down Cider'
Some very nice vanilla and chocolate flavoured fudge.

It was great to meet Ian, who had only got there from Derby on the day! He even had his Double Fairlie running and needless to say it was much admired and drooled over

Likewise with Chris, who managed to buy a Meccano clockwork motor for a future project. I forgot to give him a bottle of whisky though...

Now, to build this Penrhyn coach...

Had a really good day, it's the first event I've attended and will be back again. Had a chat with Titan, though he was busy keeping the trains running.
came back with 2  things, a flat base SE2 (my first flatty) and a Stuart 501 boiler.

well worth the trip.
Titan

I have just this minute got back and it was a truly fantastic show, for one reason in particular!!

The Fairlie has not only decided to work, but has decided to work exceptionally well.  I got the hang of running it on Sunday, and it is now has the performance that it was always intended to have.  As it was going so well it ended up getting run continuously most of Sunday, until I ran out of meths. Damn its a thirsty bugger!!!  But oh boy was I happy!!!

I will upload some video as soon as I can!

Great to hear the Fairlie is going well.

It will be a just return for all the work you've put into the project.
